Malik Salam, BSc, MHC-I, is a Graduate Mental Health Clinician earning his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The Family Institute at Northwestern University. Before pursuing a career in mental health, Malik worked in Film, Finance, and Data Science after earning a degree in Finance and Economics. His diverse professional and educational background helps him connect with people from all walks of life, blending analytical insight with deep empathy to create a balanced and relatable approach to therapy. Inspired by his own journey with mental health and recovery, Malik found his true calling in helping others heal and grow. Since then, he has worked as a crisis counselor and has spent over five years supporting individuals struggling with behavioral addictions.
As an immigrant of Lebanese and Ukrainian descent, Malik values working with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences. He offers therapy in both English and French.
Malik provides insight-oriented, evidence-based and trauma-informed therapy for adults navigating anxiety, mood challenges, and life transitions. He integrates psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, experiential, and meditation-based approaches to foster deeper self-understanding and lasting growth. His work extends beyond symptom relief—he helps clients develop self-acceptance, integrate their emotions and identities, and create meaningful, long-term change.
He welcomes clients of all identities and has a particular interest in supporting men as they explore authenticity and masculinity in their relationships, identities, and emotional lives. His training at Northwestern, combined with his Zen practice, informs his ability to create attuned, compassionate therapeutic relationships. Malik is deeply committed to reducing mental health stigma and fostering spaces where men feel empowered to seek support and engage in self-exploration.
